When you’re a small business, you need a website. Whether you’re e-commerce or not, your site has to have a lot of great information. However, it’s not just about a site. You have to make sure there is traffic going to your site, otherwise all of your hard work is for nothing.

Here are some tips that will help you get more visitors to your website.

Know Your Audience

You need to take the time to know your audience. Who is buying your product/service? There might be several audiences out there – and it’s up to you to identify them.

Each audience member has different questions and different needs. What homeowners want to know is different from what college students want to know, so it might require several landing pages on your site. Otherwise, people are going to hit the back button because it doesn’t interest them – and you can’t let that happen!

Address Your Audience

You can create various landing pages, one for each audience that you have. This will make it easier for you to address various questions that one may have about your business.

The audience may be part of your sales funnel. This means that the content is what’s going to drive them towards making the commitment. It could be what gets them to submit an interest form, make a purchase, or take various other types of action.

Create buyer personas to brainstorm more about all who will interact with your inbound content. Who are they? How old are they? What do they want to know from you? The personas will make it easier to create valuable content and blogs that appeal to those you are trying to target.

Use Social Media

Social media is highly underutilized when it comes to small businesses. Much of this is because many make the assumption that it’s difficult to use Facebook and Twitter. It’s really much easier than it looks, and it’s possible to schedule many of your posts in advance so it’s not even as time-consuming as you might have thought. This saves you time and ensures that you’re sharing messages with your audience.

You will want to create a Facebook business page and a Twitter account. Then, through the use of engaging posts and hashtags, you have the chance to connect with your audience. This is also a great way for people to interact and ask questions about your business. The more you demonstrate your experience and knowledge in the industry, the more it adds to your reputation.

Change Up the Content

There’s also something to be said about changing the content from time to time. This works two-fold. First, you want to make sure that you have new content on a regular basis. This allows the search engines to see you are producing new content and will in turn rank you higher within the result pages.

Produce new content by writing blogs every week as well as updating home and landing pages with fresh content, such as with a seasonal focus.

The other aspect of changing up the content is by changing the media that you use. Words on a page are boring. If you offer something different from the websites of other businesses in your area, you stand out. This means you should explore such things as:

  • Videos
  • Virtual tours
  • Photos
  • Infographics

Essentially, anything that allows you to get your message across is good content. Don’t depend solely on large blocks of text to draw people in and educate them about your offerings. Being creative will often pay off.

In the end, conscientiousness pays off about the kind of product or service you provide and who your market really is. This will allow you to not only funnel more traffic to your site, but engage them once they get there.
